# United States Moving Protection Organization (USMPO)

> A 501(c)(3) nonprofit that publishes independent pricing data and licensing records for the U.S. interstate moving industry, so consumers can benchmark a moving quote before they sign. USMPO is not a moving company, a broker, or a carrier. It does not sell consumer information and takes no commission on bookings.

USMPO audits FMCSA-licensed movers against an eight-point standard and publishes what it finds. Its core argument is that most people move long-distance two or three times in their lives, have no price reference point, and are therefore unable to tell a fair quote from one engineered to be renegotiated at pickup. Everything on the site exists to close that information gap before a decision is made rather than to catalogue complaints afterward.
