About the U.S. Moving Protection Organization

The U.S. Moving Protection Organization (USMPO) is a trade organization that serves and protects consumers transporting household goods across state lines. The USMPO works to eliminate deceptive business practices, fraudulent moving companies, and protect consumers engaged in the interstate shipping of household goods.Their efforts are carried out by connecting shippers with a verified network of household goods carriers, more commonly referred to as long distance movers. The USMPO also makes efforts to investigate and audit carriers for reliability, safety, and higher standards of customer service. These tasks improve pricing accuracy, reduce moving costs, and minimize the risk of lost items and delayed shipments.

The USMPO  is dedicated to improving the safety and logistical efficiency of the moving industry. By providing a direct connection with a verified carrier network, the USMPO allows shippers to have a more efficient long distance moving experience.

The Safer Way to Move Long Distance-Carriers
MISSION
The primary mission of the United States Moving Protection Organization (USMPO) is to eliminate fraudulent moving companies and protect consumers engaged in the interstate shipping of household goods.

The secondary mission of the USMPO is to improve commercial motor vehicle safety through data analytics.  Through these combined efforts, the USMPO is revolutionizing a technologically antiquated, under-regulated, interstate moving industry.
Vision

To build a resilient and sustainable HHG transportation system

Our vision at the United States Moving Protection Organization (USMPO) is to build a resilient and sustainable household goods (HHG) transportation system that not only serves the needs of consumers but also safeguards the communities it touches. We envision a future where every move, whether it’s across state lines or within the neighborhood, is a seamless and secure experience for all involved.

Just as our mission drives us to optimize routes, eliminate fraudulent practices, and protect consumers, our vision inspires us to create a transportation ecosystem that contributes positively to the well-being of individuals and communities alike. We believe that the process of moving should not only be efficient and secure but also environmentally responsible and community-friendly.

In alignment with our mission, our vision reflects our commitment to revolutionize the moving industry. By fostering sustainability, transparency, and community engagement, we aim to leave a lasting impact that benefits both our customers and the places they call home.

Our Strategy

Standardize, Verify, Enforce – optimizing your move nationwide.

01

Standardize

The USMPO has developed a set of tools and protocols to optimize the efficiency of HHG transportation. By centralizing our network’s dispatching, less shipments are left in warehouses, and more shipments are on the road.

02

Verify

The USMPO verifies and regularly audits carriers to ensure the accordance of best practices and ethical customer service procedures. The FMCSA and DOT licenses hundreds of carriers each year. We condense their list by eliminating bad performers and certifying top service providers in our network

03

Enforce

Verification alone is not enough without continued regulation. With over 7,000 licensed movers in the FMCSA database, its hard to regulate each company for its ethics. In response to the FMCSA’s request, we are narrowing their list to highlight the companies that are proven to provide ethical business practices and have no records of unjustified price increases or fraudulent complaints.

In carrying out its processes to protect shippers of household goods, the USMPO does the following:

  • Create and enforces data-driven regulations that balances market prices with labor costs
  • Develop and maintain a centralized database of carriers which observe the standardized rates and best practices
  • Targets educational messages to carriers, commercial drivers, and the public; and
  • Educate and inform consumers by establishing contact in the early stages of  selecting a mover.
