United States Moving Protection is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to protecting consumers through education, research, data transparency, and public awareness. Our initiatives are designed to prevent moving-related fraud, deceptive business practices, and consumer harm.

Our primary mission is to prevent moving fraud and protect consumers engaged in interstate shipping of household goods.
Why USMPO Exists
The U.S. Moving Protection Organization (USMPO) was built on a simple but urgent belief: moving fraud is preventable.
USMPO is an independent consumer protection organization dedicated to improving transparency, accountability, and fair competition within the household goods moving industry.
Rogue operators and deceptive brokers harm more than just families — they damage the integrity of the entire industry. Lowball estimates, hidden fees, and hostage load situations create an environment where ethical companies struggle to survive while bad actors thrive.
We exist to change that.
Our purpose
At its core, USMPO is about restoring trust — trust between families and the companies they invite into their homes during vulnerable moments.
This organization was born out of frustration, but it is fueled by purpose.
- We are here because families deserve honesty.
- We are here because ethical movers deserve a fair marketplace.
- And we are here because no one should ever feel trapped on the day they’re simply trying to move forward.
Important disclosure
USMPO is not a moving company, broker, or paid lead service.
- No direct involvement in transactions. We do not accept payments on behalf of movers, collect deposits for moving services, or control the transfer of funds between consumers and carriers.
- Information and resources only. Everything we publish is for educational and informational purposes. Any agreement, booking, or financial transaction is solely between you and the carrier you choose.
- Verification is not a guarantee. While USMPO conducts due diligence on every featured carrier, we do not guarantee performance, pricing, or service quality. Do your own research before signing a bill of lading.
- Independent of FMCSA and DOT. USMPO is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Transportation or the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. We use their public records and our own audits.

Neither. USMPO is not a carrier, not a broker, and not a paid lead service. We are a non-profit consumer resource that serves and protects consumers transporting household goods across state lines.
How can USMPO protect my move?
We maintain a verified directory of movers with full company profiles, publish state-specific consumer-protection resources, and accept complaints which we forward to FMCSA and state attorneys general where appropriate. Avoid submitting your info to multiple lead-gen sites — that's a leading cause of mover-spam and scam exposure.
