Support Our Mission

USMPO accepts charitable contributions in support of its public programs.

USMPO is a public charity dedicated to protecting consumers and raising standards across the moving industry through education, transparency, and fraud prevention.

We invite moving companies and industry stakeholders who care about integrity and consumer trust to support this mission through a voluntary, tax-deductible charitable contribution. These contributions help expand public resources, strengthen consumer protections, and provide relief to families harmed by fraudulent or negligent moving practices.

Donations to USMPO are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods, services, endorsements, certifications, or commercial benefits are provided in exchange for a contribution. Charitable contributions have no impact on complaint handling, research, or oversight.

How Contributions Are Used

Charitable contributions support USMPO's educational programs, consumer resources, and research initiatives that promote transparency and fraud prevention in the moving industry. All funds are used exclusively for charitable and educational purposes consistent with our IRS-recognized mission. Charitable contributions support USMPO's public-benefit programs, including:

  • Public Awareness Campaigns — Educating consumers about their rights, common moving scams, and how to avoid fraud.
  • Industry Transparency Research Fund — Collecting and analyzing complaint data to identify systemic risks, fraud patterns, and consumer harm trends.
  • Public Education & Fraud Prevention Fund — Developing educational tools, guides, and resources to help consumers make informed moving decisions.

USMPO is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN# 39-2334096). Donors are encouraged to consult their tax advisor regarding the deductibility of charitable contributions.

Donor Recognition Policy

USMPO may acknowledge charitable contributors in a general manner consistent with nonprofit best practices. Donor recognition does not constitute endorsement, certification, or approval, and does not confer any special status or benefit.

Independence & Integrity

USMPO operates independently of any moving company or industry participant. Charitable contributions do not influence complaint handling, research findings, educational content, or public reporting. All companies are subject to the same standards, regardless of whether they choose to support USMPO's mission.
