Free · No obligationHow it works
Instead of submitting your information to multiple movers, USMPO sends the same accurate details to 3–4 qualified carriers.
You shouldn't have to repeat your inventory to four different movers, decipher four different estimates, or discover the fine print after you've already booked.
Step 01
You talk to one person
We call, learn what you're moving and when, and stay your contact through delivery. You'll have a direct line.
Time it takes: One call, 20–30 minutes. You never repeat it.
Step 02
We collect 3–4 quotes
The same accurate details go to qualified carriers servicing your route, so every binding estimate is priced on identical information.
Who is contacted: Qualified carriers we approach for you, never lead brokers.
Step 03
You review them together
We walk you through what each quote covers, flag the terms that differ, and negotiate the charges that don't hold up.
What you get: A one-page comparison and a call to go through it.
Step 04
You book, we stay on
You sign directly with the mover you choose. We keep the file open through delivery and any claim after it.
After you book: Same contact, same number, through moving day.
What you receive
One sheet, one phone call, every charge explained.
Two quotes can look $400 apart and end up $2,000 apart once valuation coverage, long-carry fees and storage terms are counted. We line them up and go through it with you.
When a charge doesn't hold up, we take it back to the carrier. You are never the one arguing.
Sample comparison sheet
Binding estimates, identical details| Line item | Carrier A | Carrier B | Carrier C |
|---|---|---|---|
| Line-haul | $4,410 | $4,180 | $4,520 |
| Packing labor | $820 | $960 | $780 |
| Valuation coverage | $310 | Not included | $295 |
| Long-carry / stairs | Waived | $225 | $180 |
| Storage-in-transit (30 days) | Not needed | Not needed | $1,260 |
| Fuel surcharge | $640 | $575 | $275 |
| Binding total | $6,180 | $5,940 | $7,310 |
Note Carrier C's total includes 30 days of storage you told us you don't need. Removed, they come in at $6,050 — we've asked them to reissue.
An illustration of how a comparison is laid out. Not a quote, and not a price benchmark.
Plainly stated
What this service is, and what it isn't
What we do
- Learn your move once, and act as your single point of contact
- Gather 3–4 binding estimates from qualified carriers
- Compare pricing and terms with you, in plain language
- Negotiate charges and terms on your behalf
- Stay reachable through moving day and any claim after
What we don't do
- Move your belongings — we are not a moving company
- Take a commission or referral fee from any carrier
- Sell or share your contact details with lead generators
- Book on your behalf — you sign directly with the mover
- Rank carriers by what they pay us; placement is not for sale
How we decide which carriers are qualified, the commercial relationships we hold, and the limits of what our audit establishes are all set out in our verification methodology.
Why this exists
The quote is where moves go wrong
Every mover you call asks you to describe your home from memory. You describe it a little differently each time, and each of them writes down something a little different. The quotes that come back are not four prices for the same job — they are four prices for four different jobs.
In USMPO's census of the federal complaint record, the biggest single category of complaint against movers was the estimate itself — the gap between the quote and the final charge appeared in 66% of all federal complaints filed between 2023 and 2025. Not damage. Not lateness. The price.

Questions people ask
Is this really free?
Yes, to you. USMPO is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit. You are never charged, and you are never required to book with anyone we bring you.
Are you a moving company?
No. USMPO does not move anything and owns no trucks. We are the party checking the movers, which only works if we are not one of them. You contract directly with the carrier you choose.
Will I get called by a dozen movers?
No. That is the point. Your details go to 3–4 qualified carriers we approach for you, not to a lead list resold to whoever pays. You deal with one person, and they bring the quotes back to you.
What if I already have a quote?
Bring it. We'll read it against the others and tell you plainly whether the price is reasonable and what the terms actually commit you to.
How far ahead should I start?
Four to eight weeks before an interstate move is comfortable. We can move faster, but the earlier you start, the more carriers still have room on your dates.
What do you do with my information?
We use it to put together one accurate description of your move, and we send that same description to the 3–4 qualified carriers we approach for quotes. It is not sold as a lead.
One point of contact. Multiple quotes. One person on your side to assist you, and hold movers accountable.
