Frequently Asked Questions

What is the USMPO?

The U.S. Moving Protection Organization is an independent trade organization that serves and protects consumers transporting household goods across state lines. We connect shippers with a vetted network of long-distance moving companies and audit interstate carriers for safety, pricing, and ethical practices.

Is the USMPO a government organization?

No. USMPO was created in response to the FMCSA's call for improvements in commercial motor vehicle safety, fraudulent carrier identification, and record keeping. We are a sovereign, independent entity — separate from the DOT, FMCSA, and U.S. Government.

What does it cost to apply for verification?

There is no application fee. Verification is granted on the basis of an independent audit. Carriers approved into the partner referral network are subject to a separate program fee, which is disclosed before enrollment.

How long does the verification process take?

Most applications complete the audit and interview phases within 10–15 business days. Rate submission and final review may take an additional 5 business days, depending on documentation completeness.

What if my company is denied verification?

Denied applicants receive a written explanation outlining the deficiencies identified during the audit. Carriers may reapply after a 90-day period once issues have been addressed.

How can I contact USMPO directly?

Email support@usmpo.org or use the form on this page. For carrier-specific inquiries, write to carriers@usmpo.com.
