The USMPO verification process is a rigorous, multi-step methodology designed to identify and approve carriers that meet our standards for safety, pricing accuracy, and ethical business practices.

Our verification process draws from multiple authoritative data sources:

Verification Steps

  1. Registration Verification: Confirm valid DOT registration and operating authority through FMCSA databases.
  2. Insurance Verification: Verify current Certificate of Insurance (COI) and adequate coverage levels.
  3. Operating History: Confirm at least 2 years of continuous operation in the moving industry.
  4. Complaint Analysis: Review FMCSA, BBB, and USMPO complaint data to identify patterns of consumer issues.
  5. Pricing Audit: Compare submitted rates with actual customer charges across 10 randomly selected jobs.
  6. Agent Interview: Conduct a formal interview with company leadership to assess commitment to ethical practices.
  7. Rate Submission: Require carriers to submit official rates and tariffs for transparent publication.
  8. Code of Ethics Agreement: Require carriers to agree to and sign the USMPO Code of Ethics.

Ongoing Monitoring

Verification is not a one-time event. USMPO continuously monitors verified carriers through:

Verified carriers that fail to maintain USMPO standards may have their verification status suspended or revoked. Consumers are encouraged to report any issues to USMPO immediately.
