Register Your Move, Protect your Shipment

Receive resources throughout your moving process to ensure a safer relocation.

We Hold Your Mover Accountable to the Accuracy of their Quote.

The U.S. Moving Protection’s registration initiative is designed to optimize the customer experience and overall safety of the moving industry. By registering your move, we hold your mover accountable to the accuracy of their quotes and quality of service. Minimize the risk of moving-day delays, damages, inflated charges, or loss of your possessions by registering your move. The U.S. Moving Protection Organization is a non-profit consumer protection organization, on your side as a free consumer resource to assist with your relocation journey. Part of our commitment to a safer, more reliable moving industry.

A Registered Move is a Safer Move

While most household moves go smoothly, there are dishonest or “rogue” movers you should be aware of. The best defense against moving fraud is to be informed and aware of your options when choosing a reputable moving company.

The USMPO’s registration initiative was created to hold movers accountable to their quotes, monitor carrier performance, and optimize consumer safety in the moving industry. Registering your move also minimizes the risk of lost or stolen shipments, and intervene in prolonged deliveries and hostage situations.

Available Resources Through Registration:

What is US Moving Protection’s registration initiative?

The registration initiative holds carriers accountable to their estimates. The initiative monitors carrier performance and provides shipper resources to minimize the risk of discrepancies that result in price increases, lost shipments, and delays. Registering your move aligns with our overarching mission of optimizing logistical efficiency and enhancing consumer safety in the moving industry.

A registered move is a safer move. Registered moves will have access to resources, including a USMPO move coordinator, and receive reminders throughout their move process, minimizing discrepancies that lead to delays and price hikes.

The initiative is an added layer of protection and quality assurance for their relocation. Shippers with registered moves have access to resources that will verify the accuracy of their inventory, pricing, and quotes. Additionally, registered moves have the added benefit of conflict resolution and claims assistance.

You can still register your move after reserving for post-move assistance, such as conflict resolution, filing complaints, and claims assistance. The registration initiative was primarily designed to prevent moving issues from arising on the front end, by providing resources and assistance to hire the right mover.

The USMPO is your first point of contact to resolve any issues between shipper and carrier. Your feedback helps us update and optimize our directory of verified carriers.

Shippers without existing reservations are encouraged to search the verified mover database to find a reliable carrier in their area. After registering, check company profiles while gathering quotes to review complaint history and background information. Shippers can also use the free virtual survey to document their inventory and gather multiple quotes with the assistance of a USMPO representative.

USMPO ensures consumer safety in the moving industry by tracking carrier performance. This allows for improved accountability and transparency in the moving process, as well as the implementation of safety measures such as further audits background checks on carriers.
